The rules
Find the hidden word in six tries. Each try tells you, letter by letter, what is right.
The goal
A word of 4 to 8 letters is hidden. Find it in six tries. The number of tries left is shown above the grid.
The colours
- Red square: right letter, right place.
- Yellow circle: the letter is in the word, somewhere else.
- Grey tile: the letter is not in the word.
When a letter is typed twice and the word has it once, only one is coloured; the other is grey. The keyboard keeps the best colour each letter has had.
Letters given and carried over
By default the first letter is given on every row (Letters given: 0, 1 or 2, on the home screen). Each letter found in the right place comes back in red on the next row. You can type over it: it is a suggestion, not a lock. Only the given letters cannot change.
Typing
- The red outline shows where the next letter will go. Tap a square to move it.
- A full row is checked by itself. The Enter key (↵) checks a row that is not full, to see what is missing.
- The delete key erases one letter. Hold it to clear the whole row.
Refused words
A word that is not in the dictionary is refused with Unknown word, and a row that is too short gets a message with the number of letters needed. In both cases you keep your try. Accents are typed as plain letters.
The end of a game
Found: the card says how many tries it took. Not found: the word is shown, unless a video for a 7th try is offered first. Then Play again or Change length.
