The game
What is Motrix?
A word guessing game for Android. Find a hidden word of 4 to 8 letters in six tries, with a red square for a letter in the right place, a yellow circle for a letter elsewhere and a grey tile for a letter not in the word. See How to play.
Is it like Wordle or Motus?
It is the same family of games. Like Motus and Lingo, the first letter is given and found letters carry over to the next row. Like Wordle, there is a word of the day to share. Motrix adds free play from 4 to 8 letters and fifteen languages. It is not related to those games or their owners.
Is Motrix the download manager?
No. Motrix the word game, by LudicCraft, is not related to Motrix, the open-source download manager for computers. They only share a name.
Is there an iPhone version?
No. Motrix is an Android game, for Android 7.0 and later.
The word of the day
Is the word of the day the same for everyone?
Yes, for every player of the same language. Each language has its own word.
When does the word of the day change?
At midnight, on your phone's clock. Its length changes every day, from 4 to 8 letters.
I missed a day. Can I still play it?
Yes. Previous days opens the words of the last thirty days. They do not count toward your streak.
Why did my streak go back to zero?
A day without finding the word ends the streak: a lost grid, or a day not played. Your best streak is kept.
Words and languages
Which languages does Motrix have?
English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Czech, Danish, Icelandic, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak and Swedish, each with its own dictionary and keyboard. See Fifteen languages.
Why was my word refused?
It is not in the dictionary of the game language, or it does not have the right number of letters. You keep your try.
How do I type accents?
As plain letters: É as E, Ü as U, Ñ as N. The keyboard has only the 26 letters from A to Z.
Can the word to find be a name?
No. The words to find are common words, with no proper nouns and no abbreviations. Rare words are accepted as tries, but never chosen as the answer.
Price, ads and privacy
Is Motrix free?
Yes. Everything in the game is free. Ads pay for it, and a one-time purchase removes them (2.99 € in France; Google Play shows the price for your country). There is no subscription.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The dictionaries are inside the app, and the word of the day is computed on the phone. See A word game that works offline.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no account and no sign-up. Your games and statistics stay on your phone.
When do full-screen ads appear?
Only between two games, at most once every three finished games, and never after the word of the day. See Ads and the purchase.
